Anaka Brawn
Embrace your creativity
Anaka Brawn is a Canadian based animator and artist who uses her experience around the world and her arts education to tell the stories that she's always seen in the world around her. After graduating high school at the American School of Dubai, where she focused her studies on literature, arts, and performance opportunities, she moved to Canada, hoping to access the brilliant arts education available there while also exploring the possibility of living in her home country for the first time. She attended the Art Fundamentals program at Sheridan College and found herself thoroughly enjoying the classes in 2D and 3D design, life drawing, and colour theory. Upon graduating at Sheridan, she moved to Vancouver, BC to study 2D Character Animation at Vanarts, excited to both explore a new part of the country and hone the skills needed to step down a new pathway. During her time as a student in an intensive course at Vanarts, she built skills with animation principles and software, learning about the intricacies of character animation. From body mechanics to acting, she worked hard, instructed by industry-trained professors in how to properly plan, work on, and execute her vision, including lessons on storyboarding, character design, rigging, and animation history. Even though she's now graduated, she's going to continue learning and growing in the creative field as long as she has stories to tell.

01_ Perspective
Anaka’s perspective is shaped by a life lived between cultures, stories, and artistic traditions. Growing up across the world and later returning to Canada, she learned to see everyday moments as narratives waiting to be told. Her animation work is grounded in observing people, movement, and emotion — transforming small details into meaningful visual stories. With a foundation in literature, performance, and fine arts, Anaka blends intuition and technique, exploring how characters think, feel, and exist within their worlds. Her perspective acts as a bridge between lived experience and imaginative storytelling, giving her work a warmth and authenticity rooted in real life.
02_ Star Studio
For Anaka, the studio isn’t simply a workspace — it’s where ideas take shape and stories find their rhythm. Trained in the fundamentals at Sheridan College and refined through intensive character animation studies at Vanarts, she approaches each project with both creative curiosity and technical discipline. Whether she’s sketching storyboards, designing characters, or refining motion in animation software, her studio environment is where experimentation meets process. This space reflects her journey as an artist: dynamic, evolving, and filled with the tools that bring her characters to life. Here, she brings together colour theory, design, and performance to create animations that feel alive.
03_ Deconstruct
Anaka’s process begins with breaking things down. Before any animation comes to life, she studies the mechanics, emotion, and intention behind movement. Deconstruction is how she uncovers the essence of a character — looking closely at gesture, timing, silhouette, and personality. With guidance from industry-trained mentors and her own growing expertise, she has learned to analyze stories from the inside out, understanding what makes them resonate. Through this process, she challenges herself to refine every detail, ensuring that each piece of animation is rooted in purpose. For Anaka, deconstruction isn’t about simplifying — it’s about discovering the truth beneath the surface.
